One of the best experiences I've ever had with a service company! I recently contacted New Era Plumbing & Hvac after discovering that my kitchen sink drain was leaking water into my basement in dracut same town as new era. Anyone who's dealt with leaking pipes knows that sinking feeling you get when you realize water is getting into your home. It's stressful, especially when you don't know how serious the problem might be. After looking into it further, I discovered that the original cast iron drain pipes in my basement were also leaking. My house was built in 1945, so these were some seriously old pipes! New Era had a plumbing technician at my house within an hour of calling. He thoroughly assessed the situation and even pointed out a few other plumbing issues, including my aging water heater, which was something I'd already been thinking about replacing. What really impressed me was how they handled the estimate. The technician put everything together right on his iPad and walked me through several options. I could replace just the leaking section, replace all the old cast iron sewer and drain lines, add a new water heater, or tackle everything at once. There was absolutely no pressure. Just honest recommendations, transparent pricing, and different options to fit my budget. The technician was incredibly friendly, down-to-earth, and genuinely seemed to care about helping me make the right decision. After reviewing the options, I decided to have everything done. The pricing was extremely fair considering the amount of work involved, and the value was simply too good to pass up. The project included: - Replacing the old cast iron sewer and drain pipes - Installing a brand-new water heater - Cutting and capping an old unused pipe - Repairing a separate leaking water line - Removing and disposing of all the old plumbing materials and debris Just 48 hours later, Steven L. and Mike showed up ready to get to work. Both guys arrived in uniform, smiling, friendly, and professional. Considering the mountain of plumbing work they had ahead of them, I couldn't believe how relaxed and confident they were. They made what seemed like a massive, stressful project feel like just another day at the office. That kind of confidence and professionalism puts a homeowner at ease. From the initial phone call and quick response time to the estimate, communication, pricing, and actual plumbing installation, the entire experience was outstanding. I've dealt with plenty of contractors and service companies over the years, and I can confidently say New Era Plumbing & Heating provided one of the best customer service experiences I've ever had. You can tell this is a well-run company. Everyone I interacted with seemed genuinely happy to be there, took pride in their work, and treated me like a valued customer. Kudos to the owner for building such a great team and running such a professional operation. If you're looking for a reliable, honest, and professional plumbing company for drain pipe repairs, sewer line replacement, water heater installation, or general plumbing work, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend New Era Plumbing & Heating. Thank you to the entire team, especially Steven L. and Mike, for turning a stressful plumbing situation into such a positive experience. You guys absolutely earned this 5-star review!+1Posted on Google![]()

Comfort Concerns to Discuss Before Replacing Your Heating System
Use these concerns to explain what you want the installation to address. They are starting points for a project discussion, not proof that replacement is necessary or that new equipment alone will solve every comfort problem. Describe which rooms are affected, what equipment you currently have, and whether the home or its use has changed.
Start with compatibility and sizing. Ask how the proposed system accounts for the home’s layout, comfort needs, existing distribution system, and available energy supply. If you are considering a different system type, clarify what can be reused and what would need to change. Equipment selection and supporting work should be considered together.
Before comparing proposals, request a written scope that makes the following details clear:
Equipment and controls
Identify the proposed equipment, sizing approach, thermostat or other controls, and components intended for reuse.
Removal and access
Clarify whether disconnection, removal, and disposal of old equipment are included, along with access requirements for the work area.Supporting work
Identify any changes to ductwork, piping, venting, fuel connections, or electrical connections, and note exclusions.Permits and inspections
Ask which requirements apply to the project, who will coordinate them, and how they are reflected in the proposal.Installation arrangements
Confirm the proposed schedule and any expected interruptions to heating, electricity, or connected hot-water service.Startup and handover
Ask which startup checks are included and what operating instructions, equipment documents, and maintenance guidance will be provided.
Compare proposals by their inclusions and exclusions, not only the equipment name or quoted total. Resolve unclear responsibilities before approving the work, and keep the final scope and equipment information for future reference.
- Uneven temperatures or rooms that are difficult to keep comfortable.
- Repeated repairs that have prompted you to consider replacement.
- An existing system that may not suit a planned renovation or changed room layout.
- Questions about whether current ductwork, piping, venting, or controls can support new equipment.
- Uncertainty about the work involved in changing heating-system types.

Frequently Asked Questions
Choosing a Heating System
Should I choose a furnace, boiler, or heat pump for my Boston home?
+
Compare each option against your current equipment, available fuel or electrical supply, ductwork or piping, venting, controls, and comfort needs. Discuss how each proposed system would fit the property and what supporting work it would require. Confirm the installation options available for your project directly with New Era.
Can I change heating-system types when replacing my equipment?
+
That depends on the property's existing setup and the requirements of the proposed system. Ask what changes would be needed to the energy supply, distribution system, venting, controls, and equipment location. Have those changes identified in the written scope before deciding.
Does uneven heating mean I need a new system?
+
Uneven heating is a concern to discuss, not a confirmed reason to replace equipment. Explain which rooms are affected and ask how equipment sizing, distribution, and controls relate to the problem before selecting an installation scope.
Scope, Pricing, and Project Arrangements
What should a heating installation estimate include?
+
Request a written scope identifying equipment and controls, removal of old equipment, supporting work, applicable permits or inspections, startup checks, and handover documents. Ask for clear inclusions and exclusions so you can compare proposals on the same basis.
How much will my heating installation cost?
+
Request project-specific pricing from New Era after discussing the proposed equipment and scope. Clarify whether removal, ductwork or piping changes, venting, electrical work, and applicable permit or inspection costs are included. No project price is provided on this page.
Who handles permits and inspections?
+
Confirm which permit and inspection requirements apply to your proposed installation and who will coordinate them. Ask for those responsibilities to be stated in the written scope rather than assuming they are included.
